SVELAV Avalanche course - Free Skiing 2

Description:

A three-day course for those who have previously participated in a basic course (Freeskiing 1). The focus is on trip planning and risk management and also the routine of daily preparation, implementation and follow-up, inspired by professional systematic management of avalanche risk but in a way that is adapted for vacation and recreation. The methodology is clear and easy to apply on your own upcoming adventures in the mountains. 


​​Some main steps include trip planning and preparation, group communication, decision-making, gathering and prioritizing information and safe route choices on the mountain. The course is mostly practical and the majority of the training takes place out in the mountains. The clear goal is to make the participants prepared to plan and do their own ski tours and off-piste skiing in a safe way.


(Please note that this course does not cover the requirements for professional work in avalanches, but only suitable for personal use).


Previous knowledge:

Svelav freeride 1 - basic course in avalanche safety


Included in the course:

Three day training with IFMGA guide and avalanche instructor

Loan of shovel, probe and transceiver



Not included in the course:

Personal ski equipment

Lift card

Insurance that covers off-piste skiing

Helmet and avalanche backpack (recommended)
